Monthly capacity at a glance
Theoretical gross output per month on one 8-hour shift a day, with the roll length that gives each machine its highest output:
| Roll | 22 working days | 26 working days | |
|---|---|---|---|
| SM-1300 2S PRO | 1500 m | 129.1 t | 152.6 t |
| SM-1300 2S | 1500 m | 120.0 t | 141.8 t |
| SR-1500 / SM-1300 L | 1500 m | 110.1 t | 130.1 t |
| CR-1700 | ~1300 m, coreless | 103.1 t | 121.9 t |
| SP-1400 | 4000 m, pre-stretched | 33.8 t | 40.0 t |
How the figures are calculated
- Working time: one 8-hour shift a day, 22 or 26 working days a month.
- Speed: the speed shown for each machine in the tables below.
- Cycle time: the time to wind one roll plus the machine's automatic roll change.
- Jumbo rolls: 6,000 m each (12,000 m on the SP-1400), with one minute per jumbo roll change.
- Roll weights (gross, including the core):
- 200 m roll: 2 kg (core 0.4 kg)
- 1500 m roll: 16.5 kg (core 1.5 kg)
- SP-1400, 600 m pre-stretched roll: 2.1 kg (core 0.36 kg); 4000 m roll: 13.1 kg (core 1.5 kg, calculated)
- CR-1700, coreless roll of about 1300 m: 14 kg, all of it film (length estimated)

The figures are for one machine; each SR-1500 or SM-1300 L produces the amounts shown.
What changes the real figure
The tables are averages calculated under fixed assumptions. In a real plant, output can be noticeably higher or lower:
- Shifts and working hours: the figures are for one 8-hour shift. In theory, two shifts double the output and three shifts triple it.
- Working days: 22 or 26 days a month, minus holidays and planned shutdowns.
- Running speed: the calculation uses top speed. Very thin, soft or very clingy films, or jumbo rolls of uneven quality, often have to run slower.
- Roll length: every roll needs a change cycle, so short rolls spend a larger share of the time changing: the SM-1300 2S PRO produces about 503 kg an hour with 200 m rolls but about 901 kg with 1500 m rolls.
- Film thickness and width: tonnes depend on the weight of each metre. Thicker or wider film gives more tonnes for the same metres; pre-stretched film is very thin, which is why the SP-1400 produces many metres but fewer tonnes. See roll length and weight.
- Jumbo rolls: the calculation assumes 6,000 m jumbo rolls and a one-minute change; shorter jumbo rolls or slower changes reduce output.
- Stoppages: breakdowns, maintenance, cleaning, film breaks, breaks, loading cores and packing finished rolls are not included.
- Product changes: switching roll length, width, core or film type, or setting up slitting, takes time.
- Operator experience: a trained operator keeps the machine running with fewer and shorter stops.
- Cores: gross weights include the paper core (1.5 kg of a 16.5 kg roll of 1500 m); the CR-1700's coreless rolls are all film.

- How to choose a stretch film rewinding machineStart from the rolls you want to sell, not from the machine: the roll type, the widths, your volumes and the jumbo rolls you can buy decide which rewinder fits. Then compare speed, tension control, core sizes and after-sales support, and look at the total cost, not only the price.
- How to calculate stretch film roll length and weightThe net film weight of a roll is length × width × thickness × density. With LLDPE's density of about 0.92 g/cm³, a 50 cm wide, 20 µm film weighs about 9.2 g per metre, so a 300 m hand roll holds about 2.8 kg of film. The formula lets you compare offers and check what you are actually buying.
- Stretch film thickness: what do the microns change?Thickness decides how many metres of film you get per kilo, how well the film resists punctures and what it costs per pallet, but it does not decide on its own how well a load is held. Film quality and how far the film is stretched matter just as much.
- How to start a stretch film rewinding businessA rewinding business buys jumbo rolls from film producers, rewinds them into the rolls its market buys and sells them under its own name. To start, you need customers who buy a clear set of roll types, a steady supply of jumbo rolls and cores, a rewinding machine that matches those rolls, a 400 V three-phase supply, storage space, trained operators and simple quality checks.
- How to choose jumbo rolls for stretch film rewindingThe jumbo roll decides what your finished rolls can be. First check that its width, weight and thickness fit your machine; then look at cast or blown film, cling, stretch performance and roll quality. Buy to a written specification, inspect every delivery and run a trial before you order in volume.
- What determines the price of stretch film?Stretch film is sold by weight, so the price of a roll comes down to how many kilograms of film it holds and what each kilogram costs. The cost per kilogram depends on the raw material, the film grade and any extras such as colour, UV protection or recycled content; the roll format and the order size add to it. Compare offers by the price per kilogram of net film and by the cost per pallet, not by the price per roll.
